Our church is committed to equipping our youngest with opportunities to touch the lives of others – within our own church family, in our community, and around the world. Perhaps the “easiest” way we serve is through outreach projects incorporated into our regular programs.
During the past several Vacation Bible Schools we have brought coins to make water clean, collected books for the children of MountainTOP, made dog blankets, and created placemats and trivets for CHRIS Homes.
Wednesday Night FEAST activities have created emergency care packets for the homeless, nutritious soup packets for the hungry, and home items for Habitat families. We also create gifts for our homebound members and friends on an ongoing basis.
In addition, we provide our families with fun ways to serve together. Family Promise, a wonderful network of local churches that provide shelter and support for families in need, is in residence here at Saint Luke’s for a week every two months. Family Promise needs volunteers to come and play with the children and support their families by sharing a meal, helping with homework, or sleeping at the church for one night. It’s a great way for our children to learn that help can come in all sorts of ways…even with just a smile.
Other family opportunities include short mission trips to the Thornwell Home for Children in Clinton, SC and to MountainTOP in Grundy County, Tennessee.
