We meet every Wednesday morning 10am to 12pm in the Parlor, for fellowship and to knit and crochet whatever we are working on. Our ongoing outreach projects include layette sets for SHARE Atlanta and prayer shawls.
Other projects we have worked on at various times include scarves and hats for the homeless, scarves for Special Olympics, sweaters for comfort bears used by emergency personnel who deal with children in trauma, newborn hats for the Assistance League and local hospitals, squares for gift blankets within the church (for pastors leaving, new babies, etc), and more.
We have been fortunate to receive many donations of yarn and supplies over the years, which we are able to use toward these projects.
Anyone is welcome to join us on Wednesdays – young and old, men and women, from absolute beginners (we will teach you how to knit or crochet!) to experts. We can provide supplies and yarn for those just starting out. Folks come with whatever WIP (work in progress) they are knitting at the time – either for one of the outreach projects or their own projects. We have others who don’t come on Wednesday, but knit or crochet at home and donate to the outreach partners.
