A note from the Youth Ministry team:
It feels like we’re juggling all the things at this moment – adjusting to new routines, lamenting changes to plans and events we’ve been looking forward to, feeling anxious about the uncertainty we have found ourselves in, all while many of us are finding relief in an opportunity for rest. As we all navigate our new realities at this moment, we hope that the Saint Luke’s community is a source of peace and balance in a time of chaotic unknowns. Please know that we are working quickly and intentionally to discern the ways in which we can continue to connect and engage with youth and their families in the coming weeks.
We hope that for your family, this time may be one defined by meaningful togetherness. We invite you to find ways to be intentional about your extended time together. Try a new game or pull out an old favorite, gather together to cook a family recipe, youth- teach your parents an energizer and parents-let your guard down to “Bey-on-ce”, or start a new tradition of toasting around the dinner table (those who have joined us in Montreat can attest to the power of this practice with cookies) share a story or gratitude then toast, “to little brother’s chutes and ladders winning streak” or “to the joy of our family”.
In this time of extended togetherness, remember to be mindful of the moments in which some alone time may be needed as well; as has been said around youth group, be kind to yourself- be kind to others. Taking a break for breathing, reading, listening to your favorite song, or napping. They are all expressions of kindness to self.
Know that while we are not face-to-face, for the time being, we are just as much here for you as we were last week. As always, reach out by call, text, or email if you need anything.
Grace, peace, and wellness,
Phil and Erin
